A simple comparison of the two score cards shows OB to be easy winners of the game but the comparison does not tell the full story.

Nathan and Malachi opened the batting for OB and they completely dominated the Rocklands bowling, with Nathan retiring on 40 and Malachi retiring on 42. Both batted extremely well hitting through the line of the ball and scoring their runs all around the wicket.

Although the outfield was heavy and slow Nathan managed 5 × 4s in his innings of 40 whilst Malachi managed 7 × 4s in his not out innings of 42.

The Rocklands bowlers made no impression at all and after 8 overs, the half way stage of the innings, our score stood at 72.
When Nathan retired in the 11th over our score was on 99, effectively 9 runs per over which is a very good scoring rate.
After Malachi retired on 42 Max and Austin were at the wicket and managed scores of 7 and 6 not out.

This meant effectively that OB had batted their full 16 overs without the loss of any wickets and ended their innings on the hugely competitive total of 136 runs.

OB always expect Nathan and Malachi to produce the goods and to give the innings not only a good start but a start with impetus. They do not often disappoint.
As an opening pair they complement each other so well. Both hit through the line of the ball, which is an absolute essential, and their running between the wickets has improved.
The OB total of 136 runs was a hugely competitive one. On the day it proved too much for the Rocklands batters and they fell well short of their target, because our bowlers bowled so well and were well supported in the field.

We expect Ria and Nathan to bowl well and they seldom disappoint.

It was interesting to watch the new and younger bowlers Freddy, Jack, Milo and Austin. You all turned in steady and pleasing bowling performances, conceding in the 8 overs that you collectively bowled, only 22 runs.
Well done.

Much to look forward to in your bowling skills and Jack your line and length and direction was good to see. You produced some really good deliveries.

It was apparent early on that Rocklands were not going to chase down the target they were set and the day ended with a comprehensive and well deserved win for OB.

Play Of The Day.
Difficult and unfair to single out one feature when the Team as a whole played so well compiling a massive total of 136 for the loss of no wickets and then restricting Rocklands to scoring only 19 runs off the bat from 16 overs.

Finally on behalf of our Players and the Club a big Thank You to all the Parents and Supporters. It is so good to see you at the Games supporting the Players and at the Club on Saturday mornings.
