An update on our approach to the use of our practice facilities from our Chairman, Rob Austin:
We now have guidance from the ECB and the Norfolk Cricket Board that if we are all careful and adhere to current government rules, outdoor cricket nets can open for recreational use.
https://www.ecb.co.uk/news/1668576/ecb-guidelines-for-the-use-of-outdoor-cricket-facilities-in-lockdown From Tuesday 19th May 2020 our outside nets will be available on a pre-booking basis only amd the following rules MUST be adhered to:
- Nets will be open to all club members free of charge but who MUST pre-book in 50 minute slots with Mike Banham beforehand starting on the hour. This can be done via email and must be done at least 24 hours in advance where you will get an email confirmation back. Mike’s email is banhams@supanet.com. Mike will manage all bookings and if needed, give you the key code for access.
- Nets will be available from 12pm to 8pm, seven days a week. The late start each day will allow ground work to safely continue.
- Double slots can be booked but Mike will manage this depending on demand.
- All members must observe government guidelines as above ; Therefore no more than two households at any one time adhering to 2m distancing rules.
- Under 18 members are very welcome but must be accompanied by a club coach/adult.
- Everyone to use their own equipment where possible.
Please note that only artificial nets will be open in the first instance. If the above approach is successful and government rules change then we can soon get a grass practice area ready too.
Secondly, the clubhouse will be closed meaning that toilet facilities will not be available. This has probably been the biggest area of concern and debate. How do we safely allow members to enter? How do we keep it safe for those tending to the ground? How do we keep areas clean? How do we dry hands? How do we lock up at the end of each day? The risks are too high so the simple solution is to leave these areas locked.
Each coach when working with children has clubhouse keys so in the event of an emergency, first aid kits can be accessed and running water is available. It is encouraged as per the guidelines to wash hands at home prior and after use and to bring your own hand sanitiser.
